Police searching for two missing men have discovered two bodies inside a crashed car. Lancashire Police said thirty-one-year-old William Hutchinson was last seen on the 24th June in Preston, while twenty-seven-year-old Stuart Tallis was reported missing three days later.

Officers found the bodies in a blue Peugeot 106 at midday on Saturday off the westbound carriageway of the A584 Preston New Road in Newton-with-Clifton. Specialist officers located the vehicle hidden from view in thick undergrowth.

A secondary school teacher from Slough has won a national competition after creating digital escape rooms to help computer science GCSE students.

Valli Krishnappan developed the Logic MasterMind platform to boost student engagement, particularly for disadvantaged children. She has been awarded twenty-five thousand pounds to further develop the project by Let Teachers SHINE, a charity rewarding innovative educational ideas. Mrs Krishnappan explained that students love games, making escape rooms an excellent method for holding attention in class, and she hopes teachers will adopt this platform as part of regular lesson activities.

Thomas Tuchel has dismissed concerns regarding England’s treatment in Mexico as they prepare to face the World Cup co-hosts.

Tuchel described the environment as nicer than expected, adding that home fans have been friendly and respectful. The last-sixteen match kicks off at one in the morning British Summer Time on Monday, with live coverage on BBC One. On Saturday, the squad encountered a mixture of cheers and jeers leaving their hotel under enhanced security in Mexico City. Last week, Ecuador lodged a formal noise complaint with Fifa after Mexican fans disrupted their sleep using loudspeakers, motorbikes and horns.

Several people have suffered injuries following a large fight outside a village pub.

Thames Valley Police have stated they are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, saw any of those involved leaving the area, or has any information that could assist their investigation.

Ukrainian drones have struck an oil terminal and port in St Petersburg and the surrounding region, officials say.

It is the latest long-range bombardment of Russia’s oil infrastructure by Kyiv, raising pressure on the Kremlin as its invasion of Ukraine enters its fifth year. Russian Governor Alexander Beglov said the city’s Kirovsky district on the Baltic Sea was hit, with air defences shooting down seventy-two drones across the area. There were no casualties. A drone also struck the Vysotsk port.

The United States has marked its two-hundred-and-fiftieth birthday with fireworks and flyovers, though celebrations were complicated by extreme weather.

President Donald Trump told a cheering crowd at a delayed Washington rally that the American dream is back. The holiday commemorates the colonies signing the Declaration of Independence in seventeen-seventy-six to end British rule. However, Trump has faced criticism for making himself central to the milestone and politicising the historic celebrations.

Nigel Farage’s spokesman has denied allegations that the Reform UK leader broke parliamentary rules by failing to declare benefits from George Cottrell, an ally once convicted of fraud.

It is claimed Cottrell supplied security and social media staff before Farage was elected, and that Farage used a property rented by Cottrell. Farage already faces a probe over an unregistered five-million-pound gift. His team argue these non-cash benefits were received when he was not involved in politics.

Britain runs on unsung heroes. Not celebrities. Not influencers. Not people doing motivational podcasts while standing near rented sports cars. Real heroes. The everyday legends quietly keeping British life functioning while asking for absolutely nothing in return except maybe a decent cup of tea and a working pen. Gen X grew up surrounded by these people, and honestly, society would collapse within about three days without them. Here are just […]
