Twenty-two-year-old Safi Dawood is also accused of possessing an offensive weapon after the incident in Uxbridge on Monday. Police were called to Midhurst Gardens around five o’clock where three people were found with stab wounds.

The Crown Prosecution Service says Dawood will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Victims of the Post Office Capture scandal say they’re being treated as second-class citizens, accusing the government of creating a two-tier compensation system.

It follows the launch of the first official redress scheme for those affected by faulty accounting software used in the 1990s. The Capture system, in use across up to 2,500 branches, caused false shortfalls that forced many sub-postmasters to cover losses out of their own pockets.

A government report last year found it likely that software errors were to blame for the discrepancies.

Migrant sex offender Hadush Kebatu, who was wrongly released from prison, has claimed he tried to hand himself in before being re-arrested.

Speaking to Sky News after being deported to Ethiopia, the 38-year-old said police ignored him when he approached them a day before his capture. The Home Office confirmed Kebatu was removed from the UK on Tuesday night after his mistaken release from HMP Chelmsford sparked a two-day manhunt. Sky News chose not to air parts of the interview relating to his crimes.

The US Federal Reserve has cut interest rates for the second time this year, bringing them down by a quarter of a percent to between 3.75 and 4 percent.

The move, long encouraged by President Trump, comes despite a lack of official data because of the ongoing government shutdown. The closure has halted the publication of key economic figures, as Congress remains gridlocked over spending plans.

A man and a woman have been arrested over the death of a one-year-old girl in east London who is believed to have come into contact with chemicals.

The Metropolitan Police say a 41-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman are being questioned on suspicion of manslaughter. Officers say the toddler, who died in hospital, wasn’t known to the pair. The investigation centres on a flat in Newham where the chemical exposure is thought to have happened.

Microsoft Azure suffered a major outage on Wednesday, affecting thousands of users worldwide.

Microsoft said the problem was linked to its domain name system and left some unable to access the Azure Portal and Microsoft 365 services. The company later confirmed a fix had been rolled out, after tracking site Downdetector reported over one hundred thousand outage reports.

An international investment company has completed its purchase of a former leisure centre site in Maidenhead to build more than two hundred new rental homes.

Starlight Investments, a Canadian real estate and asset management firm, has confirmed its acquisition of the former Magnet Leisure Centre site. The build-to-rent project forms part of the wider St Cloud Way regeneration scheme, which aims to transform the area with new housing and public spaces. Construction is already underway, with the site acquired from Countryside Properties UK Limited.

Haybe Cabdiraxmaan Nur admitted killing thirty-seven-year-old Gurvinder Singh Johal and will serve at least twenty-five years behind bars.

At Prime Minister’s Questions, Kemi Badenoch pressed Sir Keir Starmer on whether he still stands by his promise not to raise income tax, national insurance, or VAT.

The prime minister did not answer directly, instead pointing to positive signs in the economy, including higher-than-expected retail sales, falling inflation, and record stock market performance. Sir Keir said the government’s detailed plans will be revealed in the budget on the twenty-sixth of November.

The Red Cross says early indications suggest Hurricane Melissa has caused a disaster of unprecedented scale.

Alexander Pendry, the British Red Cross global response manager, said teams are waiting for daylight in Jamaica to assess the full extent of the damage. He said early reports show entire communities submerged and homes destroyed by fierce winds. The Jamaica Red Cross has been preparing shelters and supplies ahead of the storm, and their priority now is to deliver aid to those in urgent need.

Sir David Attenborough is backing a campaign to raise £30 million to buy a huge upland estate in Northumberland.

The Wildlife Trusts and Northumberland Wildlife Trust are aiming to secure the 15-square-mile Rothbury Estate, which includes former grouse moor, woodland, and farmland. Plans for the site include boosting wildlife, restoring bogs, and supporting nature-friendly farming.

With a year left to raise the full amount, Sir David has urged the public to support the bid, warning that the estate could otherwise be broken up and sold off.

More than 11,000 immigration raids have taken place over the past year on takeaways, beauty salons, and car washes, new figures show.

The operations, carried out between October 2024 and September 2025, mark a 51% increase on the previous year, as the government steps up its crackdown on illegal working. A six-week consultation is being launched on plans to expand right-to-work checks to cover gig economy employers, with bosses who hire illegal workers facing up to five years in prison.

Currently, right-to-work checks apply only to traditional employer-employee contracts.

Mind says the findings show the need for better mental health support for young people in education.

A Langley primary school could soon expand to include a nursery for two-year-olds.

Holy Family Catholic Primary School on Langley High Street is applying for permission to build a new nursery facility on part of its existing car park. The school currently caters for children aged three to eleven and received government funding last year to offer extra places for younger children.

If approved, the new nursery would provide additional early years education for families in the local area.
