The government says it plans to halve the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers in England by the time children born in this Parliament finish secondary school.
The proposal is expected in a new Schools White Paper to be published on Monday morning. Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson says the reforms will end what she calls a one size fits all system that has denied some children equal success.
