A planned four-day strike by resident doctors in England next week has been called off.

The British Medical Association announced the decision after the government made a new offer covering jobs, pay and progression, which union members will now vote on. The walkouts were due to begin at seven o’clock on Monday morning.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a teenage girl was left in a critical condition following an incident involving a loading vehicle in Essex.

Police were called to the Chalkwell Park area of Southend at around half past twelve on Saturday morning following reports involving a small articulated loading vehicle. Officers said the girl suffered significant injuries. An eighteen-year-old man from Westcliff and a seventeen-year-old boy from Leigh-on-Sea remain in custody.

Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a twenty-one-year-old man died in an Essex park.

Emergency services were called to Central Park in Chelmsford at around seven o’clock on Friday evening, where the victim was found with critical injuries. Essex Police confirmed the man died at the scene. The three suspects, aged fourteen, seventeen and eighteen, were detained shortly afterwards and remain in custody for questioning.

England have recovered most of the training equipment stolen before their arrival in Kansas City.

Items were taken after vehicles transferring equipment to the squad’s Swope Soccer Village training base were broken into. Manager Thomas Tuchel and his squad are due to arrive on Saturday afternoon. Footwear was among the items stolen from the vehicles, but sources confirmed this did not include elite boots and nothing critical to games was taken.

A Derbyshire police officer is under investigation following accusations that they used artificial intelligence to create evidence across a number of cases.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed it is working alongside Derbyshire Police to investigate the claims. The prosecuting agency added that it is currently engaging with defence teams and courts that may have been affected by the officer’s alleged conduct.

A US Department of Justice investigation into the proposed Paramount Skydance acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery has determined the merger is not likely to harm competition or consumers.

The agency has closed its probe, concluding that the deal will instead increase ecosystem competition and benefit workers. Paramount Skydance agreed to acquire the firm in February following months of negotiations and a failed rival bid by Netflix.

A twenty-one-year-old man from Slough has been charged with three counts of attempted murder following a firearms incident.

Lewis Shaw also faces charges of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and to endanger life. The Thames Valley Police investigation relates to an incident on Earls Lane last Friday. Mr Shaw has been remanded in custody and will appear at Reading Crown Court on July sixth.

Rugby league star Kevin Sinfield has been knighted in the King’s Birthday Honours.

Sir Kevin received the award for services to rugby and the motor neurone disease community, having raised over eleven million pounds for charity. His running challenges were inspired by his late teammate Rob Burrow. Actress Dame Helen Mirren and members of the England women’s football team also received honours.

A seventeen-year-old girl has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the neck in Lancashire.

Officers were called to reports of an assault in Brierfield at around three o’clock on Friday afternoon. Lancashire Police confirmed that a thirty-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and currently remains in custody.

Iran’s Foreign Minister says a deal with the US to end fighting is close, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the American blockade.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that talks on Iran’s nuclear programme would begin later. US officials confirmed details, noting economic benefits depend on Tehran meeting obligations.
