The first passengers and crew from the MV Hondius have disembarked in Tenerife after the cruise ship arrived earlier this morning, according to officials.

The voyage began in southern Argentina on the first of April and two passengers died during the journey. All one hundred and forty nine people onboard, including twenty two Britons, are not showing symptoms of hantavirus.

Iran has warned vessels from countries complying with United States sanctions could face difficulties crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

More than two hundred thousand people have arrived in the UK in small boats since records began eight years ago.

Sky News understands the milestone was reached on Friday when new arrivals brought the total to two hundred thousand and thirteen. The Home Office says seventy people crossed the English Channel on Friday, bringing this year’s total to seven thousand three hundred and eighty. Around forty one thousand people crossed the Channel in twenty twenty five, a thirteen percent increase on last year.
