Nineteen people are missing and feared dead after a massive explosion at a munitions plant in Tennessee.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis confirmed there were fatalities but said the full number isn’t yet known, as rescuers continue searching the wreckage. The blast tore through the Accurate Energetic Systems facility, which makes and tests explosives around 60 miles southwest of Nashville. Sheriff Davis said, “We do have 19 souls we are looking for,” adding that the building “is gone.” Emergency teams are still working at the site amid fears of secondary explosions.

French President Emmanuel Macron has reappointed Sebastien Lecornu as prime minister, just four days after his resignation.

Lecornu quit hours after unveiling a cabinet, facing the threat of collapse from opposition parties. The Élysée Palace says he will now form a new government and has been urged to stabilise France’s fragile political climate. In his first comments, Lecornu said restoring the nation’s public finances will be unavoidable.

Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn have reunited to revive their new political movement, “Your Party.”

Speaking at The World Transformed conference in Manchester, Sultana joked the pair had reconciled “like the Gallagher brothers” and that “the show is back on the road.” It follows a bitter dispute over the group’s membership system that nearly derailed its launch. Addressing supporters in Liverpool, she apologised for her part in the row and promised unity moving forward.

Several people are dead and others remain missing after a powerful explosion at a military munitions plant in Tennessee.

Emergency crews were forced to pull back from the Accurate Energetic Systems facility as secondary explosions continued to rock the site. The Hickman County Sheriff’s Office confirmed multiple fatalities, while Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said several workers are still unaccounted for. Families of employees are being supported as investigators try to determine what caused the blast.

Thousands of mourners have paid their respects to former boxing champion Ricky Hatton at his funeral in Manchester.

Liam Gallagher, Tyson Fury and Wayne Rooney were among the famous faces attending the private service at Manchester Cathedral. Outside, crowds lined the streets as the cortege passed, led by a yellow Reliant Regal — the three-wheeler from Only Fools and Horses that Hatton famously owned.

Doves were released as the procession went by The New Inn, the former pub run by his parents where Hatton once trained in the basement.

Fire crews in Slough spent more than six hours tackling a blaze at a low-rise block of flats on Greystoke Road.

Two people were treated by ambulance teams after the fire broke out yesterday afternoon. Dramatic footage showed thick smoke pouring from the building as crowds gathered nearby. The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at around 3.12pm, and an investigation into the cause is now underway.

A man who murdered a 16-year-old Syrian refugee in Huddersfield has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 23 years.

Alfie Franco, aged 20, stabbed Ahmad Al Ibrahim in the neck after a brief encounter in a shopping street. Ahmad had fled war-torn Homs as a child and had only been in the UK for a few weeks. Jurors heard he dreamed of becoming a doctor before his life was cut short in April.

An Afghan migrant has been found guilty of threatening to kill Nigel Farage in a TikTok video.

Twenty-six-year-old Fayaz Khan was convicted at Southwark Crown Court after jurors deliberated for nearly twelve hours. Mr Farage described the video as “pretty chilling.”

Venezuela’s opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

The committee praised her efforts to defend democratic rights in the face of President Nicolas Maduro, who has been widely accused of election fraud to remain in power. In its citation, the Nobel committee said, “When authoritarians seize power, it is crucial to recognise courageous defenders of freedom who rise and resist.”

The announcement comes just days after former US President Donald Trump suggested he deserved the award.

Hamas’s exiled Gaza leader Khalil al Hayya has welcomed the recent ceasefire deal.

In a statement, he said: “We have reached an agreement to end the war against our people. We took on a great responsibility in dealing with the US president’s plan, and we presented a response that would fulfil the interests and rights of our people and save their blood. This response included our vision for stopping the war.”

Russia has launched one of its most intense attacks on Ukraine’s power grid since the start of the war, firing more than 450 drones and 30 missiles in coordinated overnight strikes.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says nine regions have suffered blackouts and warned that the country urgently needs more air defence systems from Western partners. He’s also called for tougher enforcement of sanctions to limit Moscow’s ability to build new weapons.

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.6 has struck off the southern coast of the Philippines, triggering tsunami warnings for nearby areas.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology says the quake hit around 62 kilometres southeast of Manay in Davao Oriental, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres. Authorities warn of possible damage and aftershocks, while the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre says hazardous waves up to three metres high could reach coastal regions within 300 kilometres of the epicentre.

Berkshire and Oxfordshire could soon share an elected mayor under a new regional government plan.

The Labour government has confirmed a major shake-up of local councils, scrapping county authorities and creating new “strategic authorities.” Councils in Berkshire and Oxfordshire are being urged to merge into a Thames Valley Mayoral Strategic Authority — a structure similar to those already in place in the West of England and Cambridgeshire.

Labour’s dominance in Welsh politics could be under serious threat for the first time in more than a century.

The party, which has led every Welsh government since devolution and topped Westminster results since 1922, has fallen sharply in new polling. A YouGov survey puts Plaid Cymru on 30 percent, Reform UK close behind on 29, and Labour trailing far back at just 14 percent.

New York’s Attorney General Letitia James has been indicted on federal charges of bank fraud and making false statements.

The indictment follows an investigation into a mortgage loan in Virginia. James, who previously led a civil fraud case against Donald Trump, has accused the president of “weaponising” the justice system against her.
