SWRS Membership

The Slough and Windsor Model Railway Society is open for new members. The society has around 100 members and new members are always ensured a friendly welcome.

Formed in 1983, SWRS, now meet three times a week at the Manor, a 19th-Century building of Great Western Railway origin, located within the boundaries of the Grade-II listed Slough railway station with excellent transport links by car, rail and bus.

Benefits of membership include receiving our magazine “The Triangle” four times a year; reduced entrance charges for Friday Night meetings; occasional excursions; and more.

Slough Repair Cafe

Got a broken toaster, wobbly chair or a favourite jumper with a tear? Don’t throw it out—bring it along to the Slough Repair Café!

It’s on the last Saturday of every month (except December), from 11am to 2pm at Unit 38C in Queensmere Shopping Centre.

Skilled volunteers will help you fix one item—whether it’s a small appliance, bit of furniture, or clothing. No need to book, just drop in. You can even enjoy a free cuppa and biscuits while you wait.

Lego Workshop

Got a young LEGO fan at home? Bring them to the LEGO Club at The Curve Library in Slough — now running every Tuesday from 4 to 5pm.

It’s perfect for children aged 5 and up, and it’s totally free. Just bring imagination — we’ve got the bricks! Parents and carers need to stay on site during the session.

No session on 29th July, but otherwise it’s every week.

Langley Social

Looking for a friendly way to spend your Tuesday afternoons? Slough Borough Council invites you to a relaxed, drop-in social session every week at Langley Library on Trelawney Avenue.

It runs every Tuesday from 2 to 4pm, and it’s completely free! Expect games, crafts, puzzles, reading, and plenty of good conversation. Activities change each week, so there’s always something new.

Pop by, meet new people, and enjoy a cuppa while you’re at it!

Arts and Craft Day

Join Cianna’s Smile and Slough Borough Council for a warm and welcoming Community Family Hub Arts & Crafts Day for families impacted by sickle cell. It’s happening on Wednesday 27 August, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Chalvey Grove Children’s Centre, Slough, SL1 2TE

Bring your children and enjoy a fun morning of hands‑on creative activities, shared stories, and community connection. All ages welcome, and it’s completely free. Hosted in a friendly space designed to celebrate resilience, creativity, and togetherness .

Thames Path Challenge

Ready to take on a challenge this September?

Join over 3000 adventurers for the Thames Path Challenge on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September. It all starts at Bishop’s Park by Putney Bridge in London, with routes up to 100km along the Thames Towpath to Henley – passing Richmond, Hampton Court, Windsor and more.

You choose your distance: 100km, 75km, 50km, 25km or even just 10km. There’s also the Thames Bridges Trek and the Moonlight 10 Walk through central London.

Thames Hopsice Sunflower Walk

This year’s Thames Hospice Sunflower Walk is happening on Sunday 14 September — and you’re invited!

Choose from a gentle 2.5k for £10, a 10k for £20 or take on the half marathon for £25. Kids under 14 walk free. It all starts at Thames Hospice on Windsor Road, with staggered registrations from 8:30 through 11am depending on your distance.

Windsor Half Marathon

Take on a royal running challenge at Windsor Great Park on Sunday 28 September 2025.

This iconic race starts and finishes in the shadow of Windsor Castle, winding through historic parkland filled with ancient oaks. It’s one of the UK’s most scenic and long-standing running events.

It’s for Thames Hospice and all they ask is a minimum fundraising pledge of £250 to help support vital causes.
