The former England forward and manager, aged seventy four, was admitted to hospital with ongoing abdominal symptoms. A statement said tests revealed cancer and that he will undergo treatment, adding he is grateful to the medical team for their care.

A man who groomed, assaulted and raped two vulnerable girls while working at a children’s home has been jailed for eight years.
Alexander Boyd, also known as Sandy, targeted the girls while employed as a social care officer at a residential unit for looked after children in Oban, Argyll and Bute. Prosecutors said the fifty six year old manipulated both victims under the guise of friendship.
