The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is spreading rapidly, according to the World Health Organisation.

There are at least seven hundred and fifty suspected cases and one hundred and seventy-seven suspected deaths. The head of the organisation stated that violence and insecurity are impeding the emergency response, while UK scientists are working on a new vaccine that could be months away.

The Attorney General’s office has received multiple requests to review the sentences given to three teenage boys who raped two girls in Hampshire.

The boys were spared jail time at Southampton Crown Court, instead receiving youth rehabilitation orders for separate attacks in Fordingbridge. Former Home Office minister Jess Phillips condemned the sentences as unduly lenient, warning that the decision sends a bad message.

Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City, the Premier League club have announced.

The fifty-five-year-old’s departure was confirmed on Friday. Last weekend, City won their second trophy of the season by beating Chelsea one-nil in the FA Cup final at Wembley. The jury in the trial of two prisoners accused of murdering paedophile Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins has been discharged for legal reasons.

Watkins was stabbed to death in his cell last year at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire, where he was serving a twenty-nine-year sentence for child sex offences. Prosecutors told a jury at Leeds Crown Court that Rico Gedel stabbed Watkins three times with a makeshift knife on the eleventh of October.

Television presenter Judith Chalmers, best known for hosting the ITV travel show Wish You Were Here for almost thirty years, has died at the age of ninety.

Her family said she passed away peacefully at home on Thursday evening surrounded by her loved ones, having lived with Alzheimer’s in her final years. Her broadcasting career spanned over sixty years.

A number of yellow heat health alerts have been issued by the UK Health Security Agency.

The alerts come into effect from nine o’clock this morning and will remain in place until five o’clock on Wednesday evening. The alerts currently apply only to England and are aimed at health and social care professionals, with a focus on reducing the harm that extended periods of hot weather can have on public health.

The government has published its long-awaited draft guidance on implementing the Equality Act for single-sex spaces.

It sets out when organisations can lawfully exclude transgender people from spaces like toilets, changing rooms, hospital wards, refuges and sports. Following a Supreme Court ruling last year that sex refers to biological sex, the government stated the new code provides clarity for service providers across England, Scotland, and Wales.

England manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly set to omit Manchester City star Phil Foden and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer from his twenty-six-man World Cup squad.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire will also miss out. Maguire, who has sixty-six international caps, confirmed his absence on social media, stating he was shocked and gutted by the decision as he felt confident he could play a major part this summer.
