At least two people have been killed and eight others critically injured in a shooting at Brown University in the US state of Rhode Island.
Officials say the incident is believed to be unfolding near an engineering building on the campus, according to alerts issued by the university. Providence Police and the Rhode Island State Police are responding, and it is not yet clear whether any arrests have been made.

Two men have been arrested after a village Christmas tree was cut down hours after its lights were switched on in Shotton Colliery County Durham.
