The Met Office has warned Storm Dave could bring heavy snow and gale force winds, with possible power cuts in parts of the UK.

An amber warning for wind is in place across parts of northern England, Scotland and Wales. Forecasters say the storm will continue to deepen in the coming days, with flying debris posing a risk to life. Disruption is expected, with winds of up to sixty six miles per hour already recorded in north Wales.

Two more people, including a seventeen year old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a collision in Barnsley.

Police were called after a crash between a Volkswagen Touareg and a pedestrian on Rose Tree Avenue in Cudworth at around 4.55pm on Friday. The forty five year old victim died at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a teenager was killed in Bedfordshire.

Police were called to Greenfield Road in Flitwick just before midnight on Friday after a car collided with three teenage boys. Two were on a bike and another on a scooter. One died at the scene, while the others were taken to hospital with serious injuries. A damaged blue BMW was later found nearby.

A council has been ordered to pay twelve thousand six hundred and fifty pounds to a mother whose child missed six terms of education.

The child, who has complex needs, struggled to attend a mainstream school. The ombudsman said Slough Borough Council was slow to arrange an alternative education plan and initially maintained the school was suitable. The council says it will apologise and provide home tutoring.

Following reports an American fighter jet was shot down in Iran, Iranian outlets say one of two crew members ejected and may have landed in the south of the country.

US officials say the pilot has been rescued, while the missing crew member is a weapons systems officer. State affiliated channels have urged citizens to capture the pilot alive, with reports of rewards of around fifty thousand pounds being offered.

The age at which millions can claim the state pension is starting to rise to sixty seven from Monday, as payments also increase.

The current age of sixty six will rise in stages over the next two years. Those born between the sixth of April and the fifth of May nineteen sixty will be first affected, waiting an extra month. The change reflects longer life expectancy, with further increases still under review.

Nasa has released the first high resolution images of Earth taken by the Artemis Two crew as they pass the halfway point to the Moon.

Commander Reid Wiseman captured the images after a final engine burn set their course. At seven o clock BST, the Orion spacecraft was one hundred and forty two thousand miles from Earth and one hundred and thirty two thousand miles from the Moon. Astronaut Christina Koch said the crew shared a moment of joy at the milestone.

Five Metropolitan Police officers have been removed from front line duties after a bag containing firearms and a Taser was found on a London street.

The bag was discovered by a member of the public on Tuesday evening outside the home of the Mayor of London. Police believe it was misplaced by officers a short time earlier. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards is reviewing the incident.
