The countdown is on for the start of the new Slough Jets ice hockey season. The Jets face the Streatham Redhawks in a challenge weekend series, beginning on Saturday, 13th September, before continuing their campaign with fixtures against Streatham, Invicta, Chelmsford, Romford, Solent, Swindon and Cardiff. This year’s action features both league and cup competitions as part of the regular season.

Ice hockey is widely regarded as the world’s fastest and most exciting indoor spectator sport, tracing its roots back to 1875 in Canada. The Slough Jets were founded in 1986 by Gary Stefan and have proudly competed in Slough ever since. Today, the team plays in the National Ice Hockey League British Division, with home games taking place at Slough Ice Arena on Montem Lane most weekends between September and April. The Jets briefly relocated to a temporary rink during the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons while the Ice Arena underwent redevelopment, but have since returned to their long-standing home.

To celebrate the start of the season, Atom Radio is giving listeners the chance to win a pair of tickets to Jets home games, starting with the opening fixture on Saturday 13th September. The competition launches at 8am on Monday 8th September during Breakfast with Mark Denholm, and runs until 3pm on Friday. The winner will be revealed on Drivetime with Ben Shoveller that afternoon.
