A Section 60 order has been put in place in Slough following a weapons-related incident on Friday afternoon.

Thames Valley Police introduced the stop-and-search powers after reports of a group of men at the junction of Elliman Avenue and the B416, with one believed to be armed. Armed and unarmed officers attended the scene, where three boys were stopped and searched before being released. Police confirmed that no injuries have been reported.

A High Court judge has described a woman’s actions as an extraordinary and elaborate campaign of deceit after she convinced her former partner she had given birth to two children who likely did not exist.

The man took legal action after being told the woman had sold the children for five hundred pounds. He had paid her thirty thousand pounds over two years before she admitted lying about the pregnancies for revenge.


The United Arab Emirates says a Flydubai co-pilot tried to carry out a terrorist attack during a Tel Aviv-bound flight that nearly crashed.

Prosecutor general Hamad Saif al Shamsi confirmed Omani national Hamam al Hammami attacked the pilot with an axe inside the cockpit to take control of the aircraft. Sources told news agencies the co-pilot was previously banned from flying by Oman over extremist concerns before being hired by the airline. Investigations and digital evidence reviews remain ongoing.

The energy suppliers’ trade body has called on the government to take immediate action to help households struggling with heating costs this winter.

Energy UK warned that recent gas price increases and steep predicted rises in January could lead to a deeper and more costly crisis if ignored. It follows forecasts showing energy bills could rise by sixteen per cent in the new year. Prime Minister Andy Burnham said ministers are considering all available options.
